Shalom,

I suggest the latest version of samba. You smb.conf file is unremarkable, though I'd note we just learned the hard way about the password server line. Good that you have it set to *

I'd say you have a resource issue on the server and should compare your samba shares to reality, one of them doesn't actually exist on the shared filesystem.

SEP

I don't know if it is a really DOCUMENTED error , but I remember having this this error with your release.

There's a lot wrong 3.0.7 on HP-UX. I would not run anything earlier than 3.0.14 on an HP-UX system.

Regards
Rainer
Sounds more like a name resolution problem. I doubt that the CIFS/Samba server ever sees the connection request, and thus you would never see a log entry for the failed connection attempt.

Try setting a WINS server config in smb.conf. If you do not have a WINS server, then try connecting by \\ip.address\share. But if you connect by IP, then you better add in smb.conf "interfaces = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and "bind interfaces only - yes" in smb.conf. If you have multiple network cards on your rp4440, then you should add that stuff anyway.

Eric Roseme
Hewlett-Packard
