If your proxy server allows ftp'ng to outside you can try this method.

1. ftp <YOUR proxy="">
2. Once you get username: username@support.hp.com
which will allow to ftp through proxy.
3. Enter password: give your password.

</YOUR>

A. I don't think we will get a proxy login, but will ask.
B. When I ftp to a server, login, and try an open to the next server, it fails, saying I must close first.

Because that server is not allowed to do ftp to otherserver. But once your proxy has ability to do ftp then it will allow you go outside to do ftp'ng.

No, the test I tried were on servers I setup and they have the ability to ftp to each other.

I guess what I'm looking for is a method to route through the proxy server, without logging into it, much like a browser does.
