Looking for a tool (freeware) to read core dump files on HPUX (version 11.00). Any suggestions?

You can use string to see the contents of the file.

Hi Jeff

The simplest way to know what is in the file is to do a strings and genrally the error pops up at the start itself . However there was a tool Q4 to analyse crash dumps which is also easier to use.

just do a file core
to figure out the process responsible.

After that what core to figure out shared libs etc.

More than that more or less requires source code of the app that dumped.

Good info and got me on the right track. I used file & strings already but looking for other options which you hook me up with.
