Software Mirror the Hard Disk in HP Workstation C8000

Hi all,

Need some technical advise from expert.

I got one HP Workstation C8000 (HP claimed that already EOF), I need to do the HP Root Disk Mirror, I understand there is software known as HP Mirror Disk/UX, but I spoken to HP Local Sales Partner, they said this machine already EOF so I not able to purchase the HP Mirror Disk/UX for this box any more.

My machine is run under OS: HPUX 11.11

Please advise what solution I can go for beside purchase HP Mirror Disk/UX? is that any way to get any other third party software to do so?

For me also same thing in our co also have
HP Workstation C8000 ans we also want to root mirroring any idea you got how it can be done,

Hi,

There is no other software for Mirroring

But still a small work aound can be done for protecting the root disk data

For 11.11, you can purchase this software online or from an authorized HP dealer. Your computer does not have to be under support to purchase software.

The alternatives are dd and Ignite. You would run dd to copy the entire boot disk to the second disk, perhaps every night. In case of failure, you would swap the disk addresses (the SCSI address is part of the copied data).
For Ignite, you'll need a tape drive, ideally DDS3 would work well. Without a tape drive, you'll need another HP-UX server that can act as a network backup/restore server.

Both of the alternatives are not realtime. You'll only be able to go back to the last backup.

Dear All,

Bad News, Today I got a reply from local HP Partner as below:

"We have checked with HP. Unfortunately the disk mirroring software is no longer available in the market. Sorry to inform you that at this moment we do not have any solution of your request."

HP is not able to sale this license to my box.

Hi Torsten,

Yes, I tried and the link is look like able to purchase online, however my company policy is not able to purchase through online credit card ourself, therefore I am try to discuss with local partner now.

If after purchase through online, where can I get the software installation file & license? is that able to download or any other way?

Do you have any installation guide that how to do it?

I assume you still have the installation media with codeword locked software included. I guess you will receive the license paper and the codeword.
