      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;I'm having problem configuring a HP-Unix server to sent a mail out.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This is what I have do to configure the sendmail:-&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;My server is resolving using /etc/hosts.&lt;BR /&gt;1) Add the mail relay ip and hostname to /etc/hosts. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2) At the /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file.&lt;BR /&gt;I configure the "DSdomainname" and "Dj$wdomain.com"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3) I restart the sendmail daemon.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But I still get this message :-&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;MKZSX003@root:&amp;gt;sendmail -v chai.external@infineon.com&lt;BR /&gt;infineon.com: Name server timeout&lt;BR /&gt;chai.external@infineon.com... Transient parse error -- message queued for future delivery&lt;BR /&gt;helllo&lt;BR /&gt;.&lt;BR /&gt;chai.external@infineon.com... Queued&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What else is affecting the sendmail?&lt;BR /&gt;i have try manually connect to smtp relay server. And i can sent a mail out.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

Try to check the address resolving through nslookup , configure nsswitch entry of files as follows&lt;BR /&gt;hosts:        files [NOTFOUND=continue] dns&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Please refer the attached documents for more details..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Shameer</description>

      <description>ckchaj,&lt;BR /&gt;as I originally thought, it was a DNS resolve problem.&lt;BR /&gt;Please double check the email address sent to.&lt;BR /&gt;For the new problem can you please try:&lt;BR /&gt;echo "test" | mailx chai.external@infineon.com&lt;BR /&gt;And report back.</description>

      <description>Thanks very much.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now i was able to sent mail. The problem is due to /etc/nsswitch.conf file is messing.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;After i copy the nsswitch.conf from backup. Then it is ok.</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Check the following file, if it has configured properly..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#cat /etc/resolv.conf&lt;BR /&gt;{ it should look like..&lt;BR /&gt;domain infineon.com&lt;BR /&gt;nameserver x.x.x.x (ip address of the dns server)}&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#cat /etc/nsswitch.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;(it should like..&lt;BR /&gt;DSinfineon.com   )&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#telnet &lt;IP_ADDRESS of="" dns="" server=""&gt; 25&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if it is working fine..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;send a test mail to ur id&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#mailx -s " Test msg " chai.external\@infineon.com&lt;BR /&gt;hi! test is a test mail..&lt;BR /&gt;Press ctl D&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Check ur mail box.. u should receive a test mail...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cheers&lt;BR /&gt;indrajit&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/IP_ADDRESS&gt;</description>
