    <description>Dear kunjuttan.....enthuttathe..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;use ioscan -efunC disk&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you use this then you can find the boot disk and your data disk in a diffrent format.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;in that you will see &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;s1 -will contain the EFI boot loader and will be commonly known as EFI partition.&lt;BR /&gt;s2 will be your OS partition&lt;BR /&gt;s3 -which is commonly known as HPSP service partion&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ok...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi All,&lt;BR /&gt;    My ioscan -fnCdisk output is the following..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;disk      1  0/1/1/0.0.0    sdisk      CLAIMED     DEVICE       HP 146 GMAW3147NC&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c2t0d0   /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;disk      2  0/1/1/0.1.0    sdisk      CLAIMED     DEVICE       HP 146 GMAW3147NC&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c2t1d0     /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s1   /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s1&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s2   /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s2&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s3   /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s3&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Can you please suggest what the following means and why it is not there with my disk 1??&lt;BR /&gt;/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s1   /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s1&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s2   /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s2&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s3   /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s3&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>&amp;gt;&amp;gt;/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s1 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s1&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt;/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s2 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s2&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt;/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s3&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s3 is the bootable disk of your system  and it has partitioned in to three s1,s2 and s3 &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s1  is the EFI partition&lt;BR /&gt; /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s2  is the data/hpux partition (user to build vg00)&lt;BR /&gt;/dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s3  HP Special partition for EFI maintenance and offline diagnostics &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;see man idisk  for more details &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards!&lt;BR /&gt;johnson</description>

      <description>s stands for slice&lt;BR /&gt;and it is required for itanium boot disk&lt;BR /&gt;as described above 3 partitions are need&lt;BR /&gt;s1 s2 and s3&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;there are 3 partitions made in your disk.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;BR,&lt;BR /&gt;Kapil+</description>

      <description>hello..&lt;BR /&gt;Your system is IPF System. You need to have EFI partition for IPF system to boot an OS and looks your /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0 is bootbable disk.&lt;BR /&gt;OS disk will have 3 slices in IPF systems.&lt;BR /&gt;c2t1d0s1 - EFI Partition&lt;BR /&gt;c2t1d0s2 - HP-UX OS Partition&lt;BR /&gt;c2t1d0s3 - HPSP HP service Partition...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds</description>
