yes it is.
Also, for 11.23 you may want to take a look at Dynamic Root Disk(DRD)
http://www.hp.com/go/drd

Shalom,

Also highly recommended is an Ignite backup before patching.

make_tape_recovery
# if tape drive is available.
make_net_recovery
# To an NFS share where read-write privileges exist.

SEP

HI,
yes you can split the vg00 mirror for patching. Check the lvsplit & lvmerge man pages for more details.

Thanks,
Shan.

Hi,

splitting/merging can help for recovering from a bad patch installation, but not if the bad patchinstallation, causes the system to panic and makes the primary bootdisk unbootable.

Then booting from the before "lvsplitted" mirrorbootdisk isnt possible and a ignite restore is still needed. This because the mirrorbootdisk will have volumes with names like lvol3b and changed minor number of the lvol device files etc.. which isnt something the hp-ux loader will be able to live with..

So what looks as a good idea, actually isnt to interesting..

Greetz,
Chris
