    <description>The system is up now, only problem i faced was the /etc/lvmtab got corrupted and all the vg's except root vg were not getting activated i had copied the backup lvmtab and activated the vg's manually.. it is working fine.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now my concern is whether it will be same thing happen if i proceed for creating the VG that is yet to be created in that server?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I was creating a new VG with a san disk...While i have given the command below it got hanged and after going through console login i found the server was crash dumping.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# vgcreate -p 150 -l 100 -s 32 -e 3264 /dev/vgedc_d731_d /dev/dsk/c194t0d3&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;here I would like to mention the hp-ux version my PA-RISC server is having is hp-11.00..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I promise for good points...</description>

      <description>I don't think the vgcreate command alone could crash the server. Something else may have gone wrong. Either totally unrelated to the vgcreate or having to do with the SAN access / FC interface.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You have to look at the crash dump to get more details.</description>

      <description>can you post ioscan -funC disk output.&lt;BR /&gt;check the syslog, dmesg. any error you see on the console?&lt;BR /&gt;what type or model of san are you using ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt;same thing happend a few years earlier with the same version of hp-unix i.e hp-ux 11.00..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and what was done that time to recover the crashed system.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Do you have a support contract for this server?  If so, get HP to analyze the crash dump.  After that they will be able to tell you exactly what caused the crash.</description>

      <description>When was the last time you brought the system up to date on patches? Most crashes can be prevented with appropriate patches.</description>
