Getting error while doing pvcreate:

are you root and what are the permission for /dev/dsk/cdt and /dev/rdsk/cdt device files.

Hi ,

What is the HP-UX realease ?
What is exacltlyt your command ?
When you try to do a pvdisplay on the device , what message do you have ? on the persistant device and on the legacy device ( if your os release is 11.32 )

I am issuing the command on persistent device
HP-UX 11.31

sudo pvcreate /dev/rdisk/cxtxtdx

The persistant device have the following form :
/dev/disk/diskn

the disk /dev/disk/cxtxdx does not exist .

u r using sudo and it would not be having proper permission.
log in as root and do it...
sudo is the cause here.......
