Shabin,
Greetings!,
You can use vgmodify with a patch that will allow to modify the vg parameters to get more PV or PE Size. And you can get rid of max PV bottleneck.

-Standard vgmodify support onyl 11.23 and 11.31 . 11.23 needs reboot to apply the patch.

-For 11.11 you can get vgmodify from hp response center.

Check this out:
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-60130/vgmodify.1M.html

http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1154249

Hth,
Raj.
Hi all,

I have few HP-UX 11.11 servers and many application VG are facing Max PV bottleneck. When it configured, used default ( 16 ) and Curr PV is now equal to the Max PV.

Application team wants to add more disks on these VGs; but it is not possible at the moment.

Is there any way can I modify these parameter?

"Is there any way can I modify these parameter? "

AFAIK, no. But youc can create a new VG with the desired parameters and use them for the application.

Regards,

But I saw some threads talking about vgmodify for HP-UX 11.11 ( unsupported ). But couldn't find any other details.

I still hope something will be there.

Hi,

It seems you can do it with "vgmodify" (see attach). But as you know it is not supported, so is up to you to use it. I think you may ask for it to HP support.

Regards,
You have two options

1. you have to tell the apps team to use new mount points.

2. go for a vgmigration activity. create new vgs with high max-pv parameter value, copy data new lvs & then mount these old old mount points.

i have done this type of mygration in my site too... coz of same issue.

Gudluck
Prasanth

Thanks to all.

We decided to execute one of the 2 options.

1. Migrate to new VG.
2. Get new bigger disk and create mirror on each LV, sync the data and remove the old LUN.
