why I cann't see any directory ?

Hi,
I ftp to HP-UX(11i) host by cuteftp . But I can't see any directory in the cuteftp windows.

Did you ftp from windows machine to hpux machine? Do you want to see local machine directory only?

ftp hpux
ftp>!dir

Is it the one?

ftp hpux
ftp> ls

Is it not working?

You might not be having read permission. Log in to HP-UX and check the dir permission.

ftp> ls won;t list anything, Try using
ftp>ls -al

It should list the contents,

First you should check the permissions of the directory. If you are behind a firewall, you should verify that you can do ACTIVE ftp sessions, or configure the client to use PASSIVE ftp.

More than likely, the FTP home directory for the corresponding FTP user does not allow that user read permissions.

For instance, if you have a non-root user who you are bringing into the root directory, you might see this behaviour.

Another cause of this can be if the LANG variable in /etc/rc.config.d/LANG is set to something other than "C".
