    <description>Shalom Symon,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You usually don't have to configure it, it comes enabled with the OS.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It needs an uncommented entry in /etc/inetd.conf for ftpd so it can listen on the ftp port.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It has a file called ftpaccess which lets you limit who can do what with ftp.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Security experts recommend disableing root ftp access on HP-UX systems.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;To see if its installed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;swlist -l product | grep -i ftp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You should see an entry about wu-ftpd.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>Ok. But how to configure the permission to allow an user to access a specific FTP directory to download files only? Upload files and create subdirectories should not be allowed. &lt;BR /&gt;ThankÂ´s again..&lt;BR /&gt;Symon.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Symon,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You have to modify /var/adm/inetd.sec for this.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Our you can do it through sam / networking and communication / System access&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;See also &lt;BR /&gt;man inetd.sec&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>You can customize ftp by modifying /etc/ftpd/ftpaccess.  Take a look at the man page for ftpaccess. You can find a sample ftpaccess file in:&lt;BR /&gt;/usr/newconfig/etc/ftpd/examples</description>

      <description>Hi Symon ,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;FTP is by default enabled in the system.&lt;BR /&gt;Also check /etc/inetd.conf  and /etc/services that ftp is enabled.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/etc/inetd.conf &lt;BR /&gt;ftp          stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/ftpd    # must not be commente.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/etc/services :&lt;BR /&gt;ftp           21/tcp                 # File Transfer Protocol (Control)  # must not be commented.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Cheers,&lt;BR /&gt;Raj.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
