Configure 100Mbit / 10Mbit

How can i enable 100Mbit link?
When i connect cable to 100Mbit ethernet port i don't have connection when i put it in 10Mbit port it is working!

Please help!
I got HP machine: D Class 9000 HP-UX 11.00
Ethernet card is INTERFACE EISA card HWP1990

Did you manage to get the right driver loaded? Is the card recognized by ioscan? It sounds to me like the card is not marked "claimed" in your "ioscan -fnClan" output.

Hi,

You can set the card speed to 100MB using lanadmin command. It is a menu drive utility in which after selecting the correct PPA number you should be alse to change speed setting.

I configured LAN card succefully it is working and it is CLAIMED:

But i want to have 100Mbit connection NOT the 10Mbit.
When i connect my 100Mbit ethernet cable to 100Mbit port on ethernet card the connection is NOT working, when i connect it to 10Mbit connection on ethernet card then it is working ...

I hope you have understand my problem ... ?

If it is a Built_in Card then it may not be support 100mbps at all. We have few servers like this and configured only to 10Mbps.

Hi Sergej,

your card seems to be the EISA 100VG AnyLAN adapter card. So 10mbit works, but you'll need special 100VG-AnyLAN hardware to make this work.

Hi,

Match ioscan, lanscan outputs and compare the hardware paths. Here you have two PPA no. 0 & 1 I think 1 should be for your EISA card confirm it with its hardware path in "ioscan -fnC lan" output. Its hardware path should be 20/5/4.

Btw: It is not a built in LAN ... It is on Hardware Path: 20/5/4

You're looking at the wrong card with lanadmin. Run "lanadmin -x 1".

If hardware path for it in "ioscan -fnC lan" is 20/5/4 then its PPA no. is 1 as shown in lanscan outout.

Also does it have different ports for 10 and 100MBPS connection ?

I have changed PPA from 0 to 1 and put ethernet cable into 100Mbit port on ethernet card - reboot machine ... still doesn't seems to work :(
Link LED on ethernet card doesn't pulsing.
100Mbit port LED is ON

Hi,

you also can check and set it with SAM.
(If you're not so good in pure hp-ux, same like me)

'sam' - Networking and Communications - Network Interface Cards

There you can enable the right card and also set the right speed - sometimes it's better to switch autonegotiation off.

Each LAN must be separately configured. LAN0 is the built-in 10 Mbit LAN and cannot run any faster. That is your machine's primary LAN card and your IP address and hostname are tied to that card only. The second card is unassigned (has no IP address) and not enabled. But before you spend any more time on this, if this card is indeed the A3402A VG-AnyLAN card, it is basically worthless. Several years ago when 100Mbit was still in development, HP brought a competing product called VG-AnyLAN and it is compatible with nothing except other VG-AnyLAN products (which have been obsolete for many years).

You need to purchase a J3516A 100Mbit LAN card for your D-class system to run at 100Mbits on a standard 100Base-T network.

What D model is it?
The correct PPA would be the one that matches your EISA card since the other one can only be 10MB...
e.g:
