Hello,
I am a college student, and my college does not allow the use of wireless routers in the college owned apartments in which I live. I have heard from friends that the Apple Airport Express works, as you can set it to not change your computer's mac address, which would make it impossible for the school to know you are using a wireless router. Is the airport express the only router with this option, or are there others that allow you to keep your computer's mac address the same when going through a router (the school uses a LAN)? Is this called "MAC address cloning?" Are there any other options avaliable for having wireless at this anti-technology school? Thanks a lot,
Tyler
ps - I am running Windows XP Pro, in case that matters...

Hi Tyler,

First, Windows XP belongs in another forum.
Second, I have to admit that it's not in the line off your school what you want, but hey! They where students too ( long, long ago).
Search Google on terms like :spoof mac address on xp. You will find a hole bunch of options.
A better solution is that on your access point (like Linksys WRT54G) go to the tab "mac address" and give it your mac address.
Be sure to secure your access point very well, because you are not the only student in the appartment ;) and you don't want the others to view your images, movies and serious documents.

Cheers,

Renarios
