We have recently replaced our HP-UX server, to make the process as simple as possible we changed the IP of the existing box, and made the new box the same as the old... I hope that makes sense!!

The problem now is that when I use an IP scanner to ping the new server(with the IP of the old, the old now something different) the MAC address returned is 00-00-00-00-00-00???

Please send answers on the back of a postcard...!!!!!!

Check every NIC MAC address in your HP-UX server by means of lanscan command.

IS your IP scanner on the same IP subnet as the HPUX box? If it isn't, I suspect it won't get to know the MAC address...
