I'am configuring FTAM over TCP/IP RFC_1006 on LAN but there are some error:
- firt Node: HP-UX ( RFC_1006 ), use IP
-Second Node: Switch Ericsson use IP

I have some error on "Secssion Test"
Do I must config "OTS-subnetwork" ?
could you give some advices ?

What I know of OTS, was for/on_behalf_of X.400. I have no knowledge about FTAM, sorry.
I do know, that in osiadmin, you go either down
'Configure OTS' OR
'Configure OSI over TCP (RFC1006)'
not both. the top one is for an X.25 connection, and everything that comes with that (Card, Software, physical connection). The second is what you want. Here you configure your (what I call) 'OSI address'.
I usually use 'D'ynamic mode (it's quicker, but I have a test environment, not production). Once you have finished the configuration you can perform 'Start OTS' in the same sub-menu

I found a document from 1994, describing some charasteristics of HP's implementation of OSI over TCP/IP. I have attached some sections of interest.

Take extra care in the forming of the local NSAP. it consists of the string: 540072872203 and your IP address, e.g.:
IP 1.2.3.4 -> NSAP 540072872203001002003004
IP 192.193.194.195 -> NSAP 540072872203192193194195

If this configuration is correct, you need to verify your FTAM settings. I cannot help you with that, sorry. I suggest you contact your local HP response center, for support.

Do i must config the OTS destination system for remote site ?
could you configured the Destination system in x400 ?

Hello,

X.400 cannot help you here, that is just another application (like FTAM), that makes use of connections through OTS-RFC1006. X.400 ia an application (and protocol) that is used to transport e-mail between systems (like sendmail).

FTAM configuration is where you need to look next. I am not familiar with FTAM at all, as I indicated earlier. I do not have a test environment either, nor the time to set some up. I suggest you log a (software) call with your local HP response center. They can help you, either on the basis of a valid support contract, or on a 'time and material' basis.

I have looking for informations about FTAM over TCP/IP. I have the follow configuration:

|host|--------|Router|------|HP-UX 11|
+----+ +------+ +--------+

The router translate X.25<->IP using PAD function. I can access others functions of the host and works fine.
I need now to configure FTAM. Can you help me with more information ?

Hi,

To configure FTAM , you can do
- osiadmin-ftam-Conf Ftam
+ conf ftam server: go to Ftam responder
+ Conf ftam client: go to remote responders

PS:Be sure values of P,S and selector in server and client are SAME

PSAP= P Selector
TSAP= T selector
SSAP= S selector

i.e 34,35,36 in Hex.

We get a Session Reject error

fut01:fut01 > ftam SW1
Apitrace = 0.
Filestore set to ux.
Verbose mode off.
Username (ASDSSP3:): FTAM
Password (ASDSSP3:FTAM):
Connect attempt aborted.
Message from hwbprt4:
Presentation generated ACSE Provider abort indication received (log_instance
:1928, FTAM error_id 1011 = "Lower layer failure")

Can you just confrim that 34 works please?

your message doest mean: config not correct
The value of PSEL,SSEL,TSEL are not fixed,
it depends in eache SW,please verify its with technician of SW
You can use also a tool "osidiag" to test in lower layer:
(transport,Session, ACSE, ROSE and FTAM Tests )

Yes I understand that - The switch engineer is working with me. I have run Diags at a lower level.

The error seen is 5008 S_REJECT. However I think this not the real problem. I really need to confirm that TSAP is not causing the problem.

We had a similar problem on 5ESS which proved to be the TSAP being in ASCII.

I would really just like to know if H'34 works if entered at both ends.

Can you confirm that you have this working?

i.e HPUX - AXE10 using H'34 as the TSAP.

Hello, the TSAP contains 12 fixed characters and 12characters representing the IP address of the node (this node or the node you want to contact). In the example given by Quan:
Network address (hex string) . . 540072872203010147000133
the IP is 010.147.000.133 i.e. 10.147.0.133 so to build the TSAP, you take 540072872203 and add the IP with 3 digits per number of the dotted notation.
