      <description>Does this user 'x' have a .netrc file set up in their home directory that says to log into server 456 with username 'y'?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The .netrc would look something like:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# cat .netrc&lt;BR /&gt;machine server456 login usery password usery_password&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;That would be the only thing I can think of.</description>

      <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if you have .rhosts files on each machine you could usr rcp instead of ftp.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;John&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi Mike,&lt;BR /&gt;If user x will logon to that system from anohter system via telnet then this will not happen.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For example from system1&lt;BR /&gt;system1{sachin}% rlogin system2&lt;BR /&gt;Please wait...checking for disk quotas&lt;BR /&gt;sachin logged in on Tue Apr  2 13:16:33 CST 2002&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;system2{sachin}% su -&lt;BR /&gt;Password: &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then I login as root.&lt;BR /&gt;system2#&lt;BR /&gt;If I do ftp now&lt;BR /&gt;system2# ftp system1&lt;BR /&gt;Connected to system1.vdgc.com.&lt;BR /&gt;220 system1 FTP server (Version 1.7.212.2 Tue Apr 21 12:14:46 GMT 1998) ready.&lt;BR /&gt;Name (system1:sachin): &lt;BR /&gt;331 Password required for sachin.&lt;BR /&gt;Password:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But if I telnet to that system stright as root then it will ask password for root.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sachin Patel</description>
