Our Windows team has a need to share data with an HP-UX server. I know samba allows data resident to the HP-UX server to be shared with windows clients, but can it be done the other way around. Can a Windows server allow the HP-UX client to it's resident data? As far as I know samba doesn't allow this. If this isn't allowed does anyone know of any other product that has this functionality?

Thanks,

Jason

Windows with no additional setup will let your hpux box use its share.

cifslogin command can include both the user id and password for the windows server.

See this doc for command options and examples.

http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8724-90044/B8724-90044_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8724-90044/00/00/34-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B8724-90044/00/00/34-toc.html&searchterms=cifslogin&queryid=20040921-082103

SEP

The HP CIFS Client runs on HP-UX and can mount a Windows (or any SMB) share. It's free, and fully supported by the RC, so you might as well try it. Go here:

http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8724AA

The documentation is here:

http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/netcom/index.html#HP%20CIFS

Eric Roseme
