    <description>Access can be limited by user or hostname or both in /etc/exports&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Examine and if possible post the contents of /etc/exports on the server side.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;exportfs -av&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;That will let you know if you are having trouble exporting folders.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;inetd -l &lt;BR /&gt;# starts enhanced logggin&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;tail -f /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log&lt;BR /&gt;# then try a nfs connect.       <description>I am mounting a NFS server from UNIX 11.0 box, using the mount -o soft .... command, I get it mounted but when I try access it I get:&lt;BR /&gt;NFS access failed for server  Aikcfilpr01lan.americanid.int: RPC: Authentication&lt;BR /&gt;error&lt;BR /&gt;What has to be done on the NFS server side?&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi Linda,&lt;BR /&gt;On the server side you will have to give permission to mount perhaps grant root acess etc...&lt;BR /&gt;To see how your FS/directories are exported type on the server exportfs&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;All the best&lt;BR /&gt;Victor</description>

      <description>Linda,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;  I would think the problem is with the UID mapping of root.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;  If the export itself is not granted, you would not be able to mount the export.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;  But just make sure, there were no changes to the export options after you mounted the export.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;  # showmount -e &lt;NFS-SERVER-NAME&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;  Look at any export restictions for the NFS filesystem you are trying to mount.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;- Sundar&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/NFS-SERVER-NAME&gt;</description>

      <description>As I already metionned, type the command exportfs on the NFS server you should see something like:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/export/s                -anon=65534,rw=octanold,root=octanold&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;where you see who can be client and if you grant root access&lt;BR /&gt;I believe you have not allowed root access (default) since you have to be root to mount...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;All the best&lt;BR /&gt;Victor</description>
