getting this error:

nfs mount: get_fh: z:: RPC: Program not registered
nfs mount: retry: retrying(1) for: /Z after 5 seconds
nfs mount: retry: giving up on: /Z

I've run into this on Solaris systems, but not on HP. The solution (such as it is) has been to stop and restart NFS on the client that's giving this error.

I am having the other server rebooted as I am typing this - they did not have nfs enabled!

Hi Linda

the errors, indicates mountd is not started, But there are some NFS request on the machine.

Could v know, what is ur requirment???

When this error occures???

could u give the output of
*) /etc/exports
*) /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf
*) /etc/fstab
*) /etc/auto_master

so that, we can help u in better way.!

Problem solved - server did not have nfs checked for unix
