I have problems with the transfer speed when moving large files between servers. The environment is as follows; The files reside on a K570 box connected to the network via a CISCO CAT5 high performance switch. The FTP is initiated on the rp7410 that has a SAN EVA5000 as the data depository. The FTP average speed approx. 600kb/s. Monitoring the network there is no indication of collisions or network speed degradation. THX Otto

Run lanadmin on your K570 (lanscan to determine nmid)

That should verify that your stats are good on that side, then from the K570, run a ping -o to traceroute your route to both the SAN and the rp7410.

My guess is your ftp is taking more than one path, and the problem is in the reassembly of the packets on the target.
