Long term, your best bet is LDAP.

With one LDAP server you can maintan a single account there for a user. Servers be they slaves to Bill Gates or Unix will be ldap clients which get authentication from the LDAP server.

It realy doesn't take much bandwidth beteween the two locations for secure authentication.

HEre are some docs on the subject:

http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90031/J4269-90031_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90031/00/00/46-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90031/00/00/46-toc.html&searchterms=Server%7cconfiguration%7cLDAP&queryid=20040127-095627

SEP

If our Unix server which is located in office(with its own domain) #1, and we have users located in another office (which has a separate domain), can I configure Winbindd to sync the passwords with their Windows accounts?

Note, I currently have samba working independently of both the Unix accounts and windows accounts (in other words, the samba users have a third account).

Any tips/suggestions?
