Authentication on the NFS Server will override NIS/NIS+. Check to see if that NFS server is running TCB (Trusted Computing Base) it will have shadow password on. If so, it probably has password expiration turned on.

Hi Forumers!
I've got a rp8400 running 11.i. Not for long I have the following message in syslog several times.
remsh[17687]: warn_user_passwd_will_expire: -1 -1 12452 -1

What does it mean? I that critical. It is our NFS Server including all home dirs.

thanks in advance
cl

The user that is making the remsh connection has a password that will shortly expire or already has expired.

run passwd for the user on both systems, set it and the message will stop happening.

If you have an expiration policy the connection will eventually stop working.

SEP

Thanks for answer Steve.

I have compared the syslog-entries with output of the last-command to find out which user made a remsh.
In addition our users are managed by NIS. And the passwd file on NIS Master contains no expiration policy.

any additional ideas
regards
cl
