DNS Version question

I'm currently running my Primary DNS version(4.9.7) on an old E-class HPUX system and would like to upgrade to run with Linux DNS version(9.1.2). The question I have is; Are my secondary DNS systems still running version (4.9.7) going to work with the new primary with the $TTL statements in the zone files?

Thanks in advance,
DB

Hi David

I don't think so (though practically not tried). secondary receive data from primary,
since in your case there is version difference (other features as well) it may fail

You are going to want to upgrade the secondary servers as well.

The DNS database strucuture is updated in the new version and I doubt it would work.

Plus 4.9.x is a security problem waiting to happen.

SEP

Thank you to all who responded. I ended up configuring a secondary DNS on another HPUX box on a test network along with a Linux primary and found that the zone transfer does work.

Thanks again. I will be upgrading all the secondary DNS servers, I didn't want to have to do them all at once.

DB
