topic telnet problem in Operating System - HP-UX

telnet problem

hi friends
i'm having hp-ux10.20(K-class).
I want telnet my hp-ux from aix.
I can telnet from hp-ux to aix,but i can't telnet from aix to hp-ux.while i connect form aix to hp-ux it gives server name but i didn't get login prompt,then system disconect.
kindly guide me.

Hi,

Telnet is hosted by the inetd, so check the /etc/inetd.conf for the telnet line. If proviced ( not hashed out) you could check if the inetd is running, if not start it and if it is running you could reinitialise it using the inetd -c command.

Muthamilan,
There could be one of the following problems

1. Issue with inetd
Please check if this is running, if not
start it as suggested by our friend in
post prior to mine.
If you find that inetd is already running
then try to reinitialise the same.

2. After doing step#1 above, if you still
see the same problem. Try telnetting to
hpux machine using IP address. If this
works, then you can look at the name
resolution area, like may be DNS entry or
may be you can add an entry for your
hpux machine in aix's /etc/hosts file

Hello!
Add IP address of your aix box into "telnet allow" section of /var/adm/inetd.sec file on HPUX. man inetd.sec for more information.

Hi,

can u issue command
#insf -e
from HP machine console and do telnet from AIX box
