      <title>Network services, that doesn't work corectly</title>

      <description>I had a forum in &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=290491" target="_blank"&gt;http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=290491&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have now only problems with network services, they are not ok.&lt;BR /&gt;ftp:&lt;BR /&gt;Conection closed by remote host&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;telnet, rlogin are not working.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In sam they are enabled.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;nmap 21port open&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What could be the problem.&lt;BR /&gt;Maybe some permissions.&lt;BR /&gt;The host file is edited for this 2 machines.</description>

      <description>First check the /etc/services file to make sure the lines for these services are not commented out (ie: no "#" sign at beginning of line). Then check to see if the services are running. A simple "ps -ef | grep &lt;SERVICE_NAME&gt;" would do it. Also try connecting with the IP address first (not hostname). This will at least tell us if this is a DNS problem or if we can rule that out. Let me know what happens.&lt;/SERVICE_NAME&gt;</description>

      <description>I would like you to check whether any duplicate ip is on the network.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Might be you are ping'ing another machine but no network services work!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Just disconnect the cable and try doing a ping to the ip.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Also check whether inetd is running&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;check whether the services are enabled in /etc/services and then check whether the services are not commented in the /etc/inetd.conf file and then do a &lt;BR /&gt;#/usr/sbin/inetd -c&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks</description>

      <description>services is OK&lt;BR /&gt;inetd runs, I didn't see ftp or ftpd.&lt;BR /&gt;At the momen't is ftp important.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;nmap machine 21 open&lt;BR /&gt;I tryed with ip.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Any messages in the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Try doing a #insf -e &lt;BR /&gt;to re-install all the telnet device files</description>
