      <title>error in configuring loopback interface during system boot</title>

      <description>Hi, I have this error encountered during system boot but the LAN card is owrking since an error is displayed in the console when i remove the UTP cable and also the HW state indicated via lanscan and ioscan says it is up. How can I fix this problem?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks in advance.</description>

      <description>Put the cable back in.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You may need to restart the server or the network.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;That message is detection of the problem. I've run into scenarios when this message required reboot to clear.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The message in itself is usually informational.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What is the ACTUAL hardware state: Claimed NO_HW.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If it stays NO_HW its probably boot time.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>i did try to reboot but it actually fails in the configuring of loopback interface during system boot. the cable is already installed. i tried also to do ifconfig lo0 and it says its up and running. for ifconfig lan0, it says no such interface since it also failed in configuring the LAN interface during boot time.</description>

      <description>According to the below post, the kernel was corrupt and the person had to rebuild the kernel. That should fix it for you.       <description>What is the exact error message you are getting?  &lt;BR /&gt;Also, are there any other errors durring bootup?  &lt;BR /&gt;You can look in /etc/rc.log file and seach for    errors and warinings.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;An unplugged cable should have no impact on the loopback interface.  Cables are only relevant for physical LANS like lan0.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;JL</description>

      <description>I suspect that you have more than 10 entries in  your /etc/rc.config.d/nddconf file.
