Hi admins,

I have a K-Class server with Dual Port Network Card.

One port is configured for

IP : 10.40.191.65
Default Gateway : 10.40.191.1

Now i want to configure second port in the same Subnet i.e 10.40.191.66

(I have a Avaya Cajun P550 Switch and not sure whether this supports APA)

When i configure second port first ( 10.40.191.65) IP stops pinging and the server gone out of network.

This is means i am wrong in doing so or my procudure is wrong

So, Can someone tell me

1. Can same subnet ip on two interface is possible ?
2. If yes, how to do this ?
3. If not possible, any other solution ?
4. Does Cajun switch support APA or any other feature to make use of ?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Venu

No, two networks cards cannot be on the same subnet. This is one of those that almost works well.

The solution is APA BUT your switch is not among the listed equipment supported by APA.
Hi Venu,

You cannot have two networks cards on the same server configured under the same subnet. You have to configure them under different subnet.

http://support1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/search.do?searchString=KBRC00000938&mode=id&submit=Search&searchCrit=allwords&docType=Security&docType=Patch&docType=EngineerNotes&docType=BugReports&docType=Hardware&docType=ReferenceMaterials&docType=ThirdParty

http://support1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/search.do?searchString=KBAN00000095&mode=id&submit=Search&searchCrit=allwords&docType=Security&docType=Patch&docType=EngineerNotes&docType=BugReports&docType=Hardware&docType=ReferenceMaterials&docType=ThirdParty

Hope this helps.

Regds
