It depends. What kind of lan card are you going to install? Usually your application CD's would contain software if so needed. But usually, today, btlan is fine.

live free or die
harry

If this card is supported to be installed into B2000 then simply install it. After booting run 'ioscan -fn' to see if workstation sees new lan interface. Then pay attention to driver assigned, instance number (I) and device file. If all will be correct (driver is known - btlanX, I!=-1 and device file, for example, /dev/lan2) then required drivers are already in the kernel. If not - instance number =-1, driver is unknown, no device file was created then you need to install drivers for the card (should be on CDs shipped with OS). If you would tell us which card you want to install we can help to locate driver
Eugeny

I you haven't bought it yet a small recommendation.

Buy HP.

The necessary btlan drives are probably in the kernel and any drivers are either on the core os cd, the applications cd or the software.hp.com website.

If you buy a card certified for your box, lots of people can help you on this forum. Also the part number(software) you'll need to download or find on the cd's will be right on the certification matrix.

For the kernel part, just start sam as root user, and choose the drivers option. The rest is pretty much as menu driven as the first part.

Steve

FWIW, in HP-UX 11i the drivers for the DEC 2114X-based 100BT cards (ie the btlan3, btlan4, btlan5, and btlan6 drivers for the HSC and PCI and core 100BT cards (except core on IPF, which is an Intel chip IIRC)) have been merged into one driver that comes along with the base OS.
