TRACEROUTE: multiple interfaces found. using ....

Can someone shed some light on this???

have your system more than one lancard installed?
Or - if you use an plugin lancard: is there an onboard lancard up?
What is the output of the netstat -rn command?

If you have a multihomed hosts, use this flag

-i iface
Specify a network interface to obtain the source IPv4 or IPv6 address for outgoing probe packets. This is normally only useful on a multi-homed host.

#traceroute foo.bar.com -i lan1

seems like you have more than one interface card on your box.

use traceroute -i

Sounds like your box has more than one interface.

Lanscan or ifconfig -a will list the interfaces.
