Sendmail stopped working

Weird. My sendmail service suddenly stopped working on HP11i. I cannot send or received any emails.

I have checked the /etc/mail/sendmail.cf and /var/spool/mqueue
There are no entries for the mail server.

Can anyone help?

hi,
is the sendmail running ?
ps -ef | grep sendmail
it will show sendmail:accepting connections
see the syslog.log file for any errors.

hi,
are you using DNS ?. is your dns resolution
working ?.
#nslookup
> set type=mx
> anydomain.com.
is it showing mail servers available in order.
#sendmail -bt
>/mx anydomain.com.
is it showing mail servers available in order.
if the sendmail is running restart it
if not,
# sendmail -bd -q15m

pl revert with results

First place to look is /var/adm/syslog/mail.log - any errors there?

Yes. ps -ef|grep sendmail
It is accepting connection from port 25. There is nothing in syslog.log indicating sendmail problems.

There is a new twist. I just received an email sent 09:00 GMT now 12:15 GMT.

You might want to check the load on the machine. In your sendmail.cf file, you have specified at what load sendmail will work, accept connections, relay or even shutdown.

in your sendmail.cf:
O QueueLA=8
O RefuseLA=12
are a few examples.
