Can you partition an N4000 if you install 11.i?
Can you spilt the box, lets say you have an 8-way. Can I install two OS's, 4 cpu's on each partition? Or am I on the wrong track.

Hi Robert:

I dont think it is possible. You can have two OS installed ( say 11.0 and 11i) in two different disks. Boot from the one which you need. If you are looking for splitting the CPU usage for different applications, then you may consider using PRM.

HTH,
Shiju

Hi Robert you can do this thing on Superdome but not on N4000.
On N4000 you can do as Chan explained. You can keep the disk of group assigned to HP 11 and HP 11i. But at a time you will be able use only one OS either 11 or 11i.

thanks,
-pap

Hello Robert,

This can be done on a N4000 using Virtual Partitions (Vpars) on the 11i version of HPUX. For complete details look at http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/T1335-90001/T1335-90001.html

The SuperDome supports Hard partitions as well but the N4000 does not.

Thanks for participating in the forums,

Martin
Chaos reigns within. Reflect, repent, and reboot. Order shall return.
Yes Robert you can do this by using vpars. Though there are some limitations but I know you can do this.

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/T1335-90001.pdf

Sandip
