Andy,

I don't have token ring anymore and I don't have 10.20 but at one time I did have both so I'll guess based on my vague recollections.

1st) You could try uninstalling the software - do a swremove, find the token ring product and remove it.

2nd) (and you may have to do this even if the uninstall works) Look in /etc/rc.config.d for a *token*conf file. As I recall, there's a config file in which you should be able to set the startup option to 0 (off).

One or both of these ought to do it for you.

Pete

HOw can I disable it 'permanently.'This server is runing HP-UX 10.20 and I am getting ready to bring it up to HP-UX 11.0. It is an old K220 server.
Any, all help greatly appreciated and points will be assigned.
Thanks, Andy

pull the card out, break it in half, throw it away.

Make sure you load HPux from SCRATCH (cold install, virgin install, ...) --> which means --> don't do an upgrade!

live free or die
harry

Did you try SAM?
# sam
Now go to Network and communications, then select network adapters and find this NIC there. Select it and remove or disable it.

HTH

Thanks guys for the quick response.
Unfortunately I cannot remove the card since it is part of the core i/o module.
I did what Sajid said and I certainly agree with Harry.
What Pete said will work for me
hello,

You can check the config files /etc/rc.config.d and also the startup files in /sbin/init.d. You can either edit those or move to a different directory.

hth,
