Hi,
You have to do following.

1. Boot the machine you want to recover.

2. At 10 sec message you have to interrupt the machine and you will get to BOOT_ADMIN prompt.

3. At that prompt you have to give command

boot lan.10.2.45.34 install
(IF IGnite server IP is 10.2.45.34)

Check the ignite servers IP again while giving above command.

$. now your machine will boot from ignite server and you will get ignite screen, select Install HP-UX from that menu.
5. Then select method of installation as remote GUI Running on Ignite-UX server.

6. Ignite then will prompt you for network informations..like IP, Subnet mask etc...

after this ignite will wait for response from Ignite server.

7. Now login to Ignite server and run ignite.
8. Select the machine to be recovered, right click on its icon and select install.

Then the machine will start recovering from ignite server.

As far as booting of your machine from ignite server is concern there should not be any problem as your ignite server is on the same network.

Check the connections.
-Pap

From the Ignite GUI you can push the image, but provided during the push your client should be up and running. Basically what it does, It copies the wininstall file to the client and change the default boot path to that wininstall file and reboot the Client through wininstall file. Then the Server started pushing the Image.

Go to ignite GUI, select the image and do install client --> new install

Sandip

Either you can boot up the system with the nominal OS and then start doing this or
do some changes in the file /var/opt/ignite/local/config as per your requirement and try it out.

Sandip

Hello,
From your posting, you have to make sure that both machines are on the same network. Doing a search lan from the client machine before trying an ignite is a good idea. If the client machine does not see the ignite server NOTHING you do will work (pull or push).

I had this same problem at one of our remote sites and it ended up being the machine being ignited was plugged into the wrong hub.

Hi

Have you assigned a temporary ip adress to the ignite server. The client must use this during the boot process. This is done from the Ignite GUI "Actions/Tutorial/server setup"

Leif

HI all,

I think I have the same problem describing in this thread, my setup is for 2 servers but in different network segment. A helper system is setup on the third machine. However, not sure why, I cannot get the "BOOT MENU" by pressing 10 sec prompt, all I get is just the normal "MAIN MENU" prompt. Typing "sea lan install" with get "NO device to boot.." I sure the server and client machines are "connected" by the helper as I have done the Network Archieve recovery without any problem.. any help?

Bgds,
Gordon
