sam takes long time to open

hi,
When i open SAM it takes very long time to open, i have sam cummlative patch ..installed and all the reqd patches installes either.can any body let me know what can be the problem.

hi,
did you abort any previous running sam sessions.
ps -ef | grep sam
if any sam sessions are running , kill them.
any changes made to system before this problem
showed up ??

check your DNS is all ok, if using DNS.
This could have and adverse effect on SAM startup.
What OS versionb are you runing?

Take a look at /var/sam/log/samlog, are there any errors there ?

I had a similar problem when NIS was not configured correctly. NIS had been turned on for a client, but the NIS server was no longer there.

This also caused a very slow loggon process if I remember correctly.

YES I use DNS but its working fine ..and its taking time both in xgui and ascii.

once started, go to HELP, Using the SAM Log File. What does it say there?
