I am having problems reading PDF files from IE5 under HP-UX 10.20.
I have Acrobat Reader 4 and Internet Explorer 5 installed.
My IE5 Association settings for PDF are:
MIME type = application/pdf
command line = /usr/bin/acroread %1

When I try to 'load from current location', acrobat reader is launched, it (seems to) perform the file download, but instead of displaying the file, an info dialog appears titled "Acrobat Reader" with text "There was an error opening this document. No such file or directory." After clicking OK, an empty acrobat window is displayed, and there is a core dump in the users home directory.

As a result the only way users can browse PDF files is to download them first and then open them.

Is there a temprary file that is being deleted, or some other problem? Anybody any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hope someone has had this problem before (and solved it!)

Cheers

Keith

Keith,

HOW are you making the PDF files available under HPux 10.20 so that your PC users using IE5 can access them? What are the permissions on the files?

live free or die
harry
