Hi,

There are four items to mention:

1.
# echo "sel path system;info;wait;infolog
>view
>done
>"|cstm > info
# cat info

2. From the original manifest file if you have
ignite:

/var/opt/ignite/local/manifest/manifest.orig

3. cstm
cstm >Map
cstm > SelAll
cstm>Information
cstm>Infolog
Press space bar till you get save as file option ... save it in file
cstm> exit

4. If a CPU has been changed you may not
be able to retrieve it.

HTH
-Michael

Hi Michael
Thanks for the info. Item 3 was the hit - unfortuneately the serial number field gave me an answer of "N/A". At least now I can find out how to get the value in there and make use of cstm in this way.
Thanks,
Maria.

Hello S.K Chan,
Thanks for the pointer. Found an item relating to the manifest.seed file that I am going to attempt to use in readiness for the next make_recovery tape run. We run older models here D210, D220 and D390.

Thanks
Maria.

Maria,

unless you have a perfect world, you can not guarantee that any system command will return the system serial number. If the system board get's replaced, guess what, the "system" serial number get's changed! The only way to be absolutely sure, is to check the serial number on the chassis, which means you have to have physical access!

live free or die
harry
