topic Setting the DISPLAY variable in Operating System - HP-UX

I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on our HP-UX 11.00 box and all indications that I have found indicate that I must do this through X-windows. This is fine and dandy until I try to connect through an x-terminal session (I'm using Exceed 6.0). I receive a message saying the DISPLAY setting is not right. I'm using hostname:0.0 to try and make the connection so I'm guessing that hostname is not getting resolved. I have had success on another box using the IP address instead of hostname, but where do I find the IP address for our new host?

P.S.This thread has been moved from Archived Desktops and Workstations Boards>general to HP-UX > networking- HP Forums Moderator

You need to use the hostname or IP address of the PC that is running exceed. You can set up the HP-UX system to run dtlogin and then tell the exceed X server to use XDMCP to request a login prompt from the HP-UX server.
