topic rsync timeout problem in Operating System - HP-UX

I know that rsync isn't an hp supported software, but the rsync mailing list isn't helping me too much and I figured that maybe someone here was using it and would be able to help.

The situation is as this:

I want to create a mirror of my web server by using rsync over ssh to a remote server in a different state.

The rsync server and client work correctly on the local lan (I setup a client to test it before I tried to go remote)

The remote system timesout before it even prompts for a password. I have the correct IP in the config files, the login and password are correct, and the two machines can see each other. By see each other, I mean they can ping, and I can ssh from the remote host to my server.

I have tried changing the timeout value in the config file and the command line from the default 60 seconds, to 7200 and even to 0 which is supposed to say that there is no timeout. No matter what I set it to, it consistently stops at 1 minute and 16 seconds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Rsync over ssh? Hmm.

Anyway. Can you connect with ssh from the server to the remote computer? If no, check the local allow/deny rules, the firewall and any other things that can stop you from connecting.

If yes. What's the exact command you are trying to run and is failing? Is the 76 seconds always the interval? If so, it's damn strange :)

Please provide more input.

E.
