Don,

Normally .nfsxxxx files occur when a user deletes a file, and another user has that same file open on that NFS client. The OS is supposed to delete the .nfsxxxx file when the last user finishes using it.
However, at HPUX 11.0, there were some bugs in this area. Most of them were fixed in NFS Patch PHNE_20627 or later. Additional fixes were rolled into the most recent NFS kernel patch PHNE_22642.

Hope this helps,

-> Brian Hackley

We just recently upgraded our clients to 11.0 while our server remains at 10.20. The other day one of the users found there were a number of .nfsxxxx (xxxx are random numbers/letters) in one of his nfs mounted directories. When he attempted to delete them new ones appeared. Has anyone run into this and is there a fix/patch?

Thanks!
