X11 installation Error

I am trying to install X11 6.6 on my system Ver 11.0

Can somebody put some light on this I get this error when I try to do make World > world.log

make World > world.log
as: warning 2: Unknown option "--traditional-format" ignored.
as: "/var/tmp/cca8rYJa.s", line 23: error 1052: Directive name not recognized - NSUBSPA

Are you using gcc for the build?

yes I have gcc installed and attached file is the site.def in were i have defined to use gcc.

I have gcc ver gcc 3.0.4

I suggest using GNU bintools when compiling with gcc and make sure you update your path to the GNU "as" binary from bintool. I also would try an older version of gcc.

you mean I should install binutils or bintools ? and what ver of gcc you suggest i should install?

sorry, i mean binutils. I would try that first before trying an older verion on gcc.
