Disable ICMP ECHO

How can I disable to respond to a ping (ICMP ECHO ) ???

I have probed to execute "ndd -set /dev/ip ip_respond_to_echo_broadcast" for the broadcast address and it`s works, but I don`t know who to do it for the address of the box.

You can use ined.sec file to disable echo services on udp port 7 .

You can also use, ip_respond_to_address_mask_broadcast

For a very simple method, simply comment out the entries for echo in /etc/services.

Don't confuse ICMP ECHO with
TCP and UDP Echo.
The only way to disable
ICMP ECHO in HP-UX is with
IPfilter or something similar.

This was aluded to in Vincenzo
Restuccia's post pointing to
the HP docs on IPfilter.
