Now, I have stopped the slave NIS server.

Whe I issue a ypwhich on the master node, I get the IP address of a MC ServiceGuard package and not the IP address of the lan0 ethernet card of the server.

I would like to understand how NIS works and why we had not any problem with HP-UX 10.20.

Thanks

Didier

I am assuming you determined which server you are bound to by using the ypwhich command. I don't think it should make any difference which server you are bound to with NIS. You should be updating the NIS maps from the master to the slave(s) regularly so they should all be up to date. You should get the same behavior whether you are bound to a slave or to the master.
