Hi,
I have old HP-UX machine (9000/755, 9.5).
When I rebooting the workstation, I get the error message the network is failed and this machine couldn't get "hostname".
I look the "rc.log" file and found something wrong, but I coundn't fix it.
The router(hh13-router) is right address and ping is O.K.
TELNET or FTP is working but "NSLOOKUP" or "NETSTAT" didn't work.
Could you examine the rc.log attached.
Thank you in advance.

Just check a file, /etc/nsswitch.conf, out to see if it has a proper policy.

If nsswitch.conf exists and you don't use DNS server to resolve hostname to ip address, simply move that file to nsswitch.conf.prev and try again.

In order to use the nsswitch.conf for 9.05, you need to apply PHNE_4563...

Berlene
