NFS server B not responding still trying. will it degrade server performance

Dear HPUX admin,
when i issue bdf, the last output it says NFS server B not responding still trying.

what is the impact of this to our server performance. will it degrade? ermm
would really appreciate your advice. many thanks in advance

It depends? Is the filesystem that is mounted from the non-responding server important to production work? If so, then it could have a large performance impact in that some critical processes may not work.

This is definitely something you should look at and get taken care of.

NFS should never be used on a production server unless the NFS server is also production quality. When an NFS server stops working, it is like ripping a disk out of your computer. All programs that depend on the data on this mountpoint will hang. That's a very serious impact to your server. bdf, df and find and many other commands may try to access this missing disk and hang.

Hi Almond,

Best practices NFS server U boot up first then U boot up related all server, if possible U reboot first NFS server then rest of the server in Ur environment. If all the server not production mode, other ways U need down time.
