Missing SAM Dependencies

While trying to start SAM I get the following message:

Task "FAL_GET_WHAT_STRING" could not be be found. The SAM Task Registration database containing the definition of this task is missing or corrupt, or
the fileset containing this task has not been loaded. To regenerate the SAM Task Registration database, please use swconfig(1M) to unconfigure and then configure
the "SystemAdmin" product.

I do swconfig -u SystemAdmin followed by swconfig SystemAdmin. However, I get
errors. The log says I am missing SystemAdmin.SAM and SystemAdmin.OBAM-RUN filesets ( They are dependencies for other filesets ).

I am running HP=UX 10.10 on this machine, and I do have a full backup -- I am just
not sure what to restore. What files are in these filesets ?

Also I do have access to the CD-ROMs if reinstalling SAM via swinstall is a better
option.

SAM was working until just recently, and the machine is not on a public network.
I doubt it is a problem with patches, however I will look into it. In the meantime,
any other ideas?

I think the is the key message for your problem "The SAM Task Registration database containing the definition of this task is missing or corrupt..." the reg db for sam is located in /etc/sam.

Try a restore of /etc/sam or copy the defaults from /usr/newconfig/etc/sam.
# mv /etc/sam /etc/sam.old
# cp -R -p /usr/newconfig/sam /etc/sam

Denver Osborn:

Thanks for the suggestions, I went with copying the default configuration to /etc/sam.
It is now working. If I find that I need to recover from tape, I also know what needs to
be done.

Thanks!
