limit to number of printers?

Is there a limit to the number of printers one can configure on hp ux 11.11?

As far as I know, no. I have seen HP-UX systems with well over a thousand print queues.

What is the max number you are looking for? From my knowledge, I don't think HP-UX 11.11 has limitation for printer number, in my company, we are using over 100 printers, and they are working fine. Generally, this kind of environment is already a large number, I don't think it is a problem for HP-UX 11.11 to handle hundreds of printers, if you are talking about network printer.

I believe your only limitations would eventually be performance limitations. Not sure at what point you'd run into those, or if you every would. It would obviously depend on the number of queues and how busy each printer might be.

The limit can be defined by the no. of printers you can attach , no limits from the system /OS side.

We manage hundreds here. I would not suggest managing that many printers without some sort of output managment such as DAZEL. Only issue I have ran into is the nprocs kernel pram. Had to bump it up a little to manage all the print requested.

Limits would be:

1) Resources (Memory & CPU cycles)
2) Disk Space to service the queues
