11i v1 (11.11) from December 2006 seems to be
on five CD-ROMs. I try not to offer to
violate copyrights in a forum operated by the
copyright owner, but if you get desperate
enough to find my current e-mail address,
then I might be able to help.

> [...] as well as workability of the burned
> copies are questionable.

It's been a while since I did the HP-UX
installation on my c3700, but I probably did
it from CD-R copies of the original discs.
The only potential problem I'd expect would
come from a CD-ROM drive which is too
dim/blind to deal with a CD-R, but I haven't
had that sort of trouble for some years.
(Perhaps my junk is all too new, now.)
Being a coward, I wouldn't tempt fate by
trying it with a CD-RW, however.

I've got an old J5000 we would like to resurrect and use for some testing. Unfortunately all we have is a CD-ROM drive on the box, not DVD. And it won't have access to a network, so ignite is out.

Has any version of 11i been released on CD? And if so, does anyone know of a legal source of ISOs for that?

At this point, I don't believe you have a chance of ordering them from HP as they are obsolete. Otherwise, I had gobs of them on CDs and we had to ask for DVDs to be shipped when we needed them.

Best you can do is to ask someone with the cd volumes and maybe they can create ISO files for you to burn but legality is iffy as well as workability of the burned copies are questionable.

If you have an active SAID for 11i v1, HP will still send out the CD-ROM media. I got a set of disks a couple of months ago, no problem. End-of-support for 11i v1 is not until the end of 2013, so it should still be possible to get or renew a SAID for it.

Thanks for the ideas. Under any of our existing SAIDs we don't have a CD option. Unless there is a unique way of ordering them, that doesn't seem to be available to us.
