Hi

could someone please tell me how I can modify an existing remote printer to be BSD compatible if it wasn't defined at set up time ?

What is the effect of this flag ?

I am trying to print to an NT box from HPUX. everyday after many successful prints NT strts reporting a LPDSVC 4007 error and locks up the LPD service.

I have applied all the patches to NT that is recommended.

Hi:

You will need to delete and recreate the remote printer definition to set the BSD option. You must enable BSD style printing to communicate with LPD/LPR -- the Line Printer Daemon and Line Printer Remote service used by NT.

Regards!

...JRF...

Hi All,

Thank you very much for all the replies. I am fairly devastated with what I am faced with.

I have to redefine about 10 printers. The funny thing is they communicatewith and work with NT lpd service right now.

Could someone please tell me what effect the BSD flag has on the definition and the interaction with NT LPDSVC ?

Thank you.
Nalin.

It looks like you have registered twice, once in October 2000, and then again on May 4 2002 (a few days ago). Since the system is treating the two separately, until you login as your original user number, you will just be another user and not the author of the question (which allows you to assign points). I'll send a note to Dan Gazzaniga who will contact you by email to fix the dual user IDs.

Hi Nalin,

I've just sent you your login information for the account with which you started this thread. Login using that data and you should see blue "assign points" buttons above each reply. Thanks for being diligent to reward each of those above who have replied to your question.

Regards,
Dan
