You must mirror the entire LV.

But you do not have to mirror all LVs

Hi,

I have a 2*disks belongs to same logical volume.one is 10GB on disk1 and the other is 90GB on disk2.

I want to know is it possible to mirror only 90GB which is on disk2.Is there any option for doing mirror by specifying extents range..?

Thanks in advance.

regards
Shankar
Nope. The *entire* LV is mirrored. There are no options to just mirror a portion of an LV.

I don't really see what point would be in mirroring part of an LV anyway.

As above you have to mirroe the whole thing or not at all. I'm guessing that you cannot mirror the 100GB as there is not enough space on the physical disks.

So I'm guessing you have 90GB of free space on another disk... hence the question. Have you thought about shrinking the logical volume to 90GB, then you can mirror it?

Regards

Tim

Hi Shanker

Entire lv has to be mirrored. Suggest to re organise the subject logical volume to one disk and then mirror it.

Regards
Mahesh

Use fsadm to shrink your existing fileystem if low on space. Create a new LV that is mirrored.
